Following Patrick’s 70th birthday celebrations, he visited the vineyard where the T&G staff had had a vine named after him!
He is now just awaiting the call to go and pick the grapes!!!!!
Open for the first time to the public for an event of this kind, Lancaster House is one of the finest buildings in London and recently featured in the Academy Award-winning ‘The King’s Speech’. Situated on The Mall, close to Buckingham Palace in central London, it offers a magnificent, historic setting for this truly unique event.
Over the five days at the end of July Start worked with Jamie Grainger-Smith, the founder of the eco-restaurant consultancy, Think Eat Drink using the burgeoning pop-up concept to showcase sustainable food and drink. A driving force behind Acorn House, the ecologically pioneering restaurant in London’s King’s Cross, Water House and Jamie Oliver’s ‘Fifteen Restaurant’, Jamie’s food ethos is built upon a strong commitment to sustainability. http://www.startuk.org/events/starts-summer-events-.aspx
Start’s focus on locally sourced food, recycling and seasonality combines perfectly with Jamie’s long-time interest in sustainable food. This made T&G the ideal partner to donate some of it’s FSC sustainable products. Our brilliant Pure Wood Boards were used for canapes, along with our Cork Trays for serving drinks and not to forget our FSC Copenhagen Mills!
A great evening was had when suppliers of the event were invited to attend a special reception to say “thank you” for their support, as you can see Patrick had a great time!
We have a very anxious member of our team here in the office, she needs them back NOW!!!!
want to know more, well the pop-up restaurant is part of Start, an initiative by HRH The Prince of Wales, which aims to inspire the UK public to take simple steps for more sustainable living.
The Start Sustainable Pop-up restaurant with Think Eat Drink opens for 5 days only from 27-31st July 2011.
The menus have been created by Jamie Grainger-Smith and Gizzi Erskine and promise to be a real treat.
T&G are honoured to be supplying some of their FSC serving boards, FSC CrushGrind® Salt & Pepper Mills and some Cork trays.

Wooden Mill Rest
This is a nice solid little wooden tray which does exactly what you would hope: cuts out all the mess from salt and pepper mills in your cupboard or on the worksurface. It does take up a little mroe space than the mills alone as it has to be large enough to fit any size mill, but that is more than compensated for by not having to wipe up all those little grains of salt and pepper. Very pleased with it.

Wooden Mill Rest
This is a great little idea {the sort of thing you never knew you needed till you got one!} It looks smart enough to have out on show and is very practical & helpful at collecting those annoying bits of salt & pepper that fall from the mills after use. Love it!
